Mean Gene Fireworks started in 1985 in a small 16 foot structure in the heart of North Portland. The best item (remember this is Oregon!) was a fountain that sent a shower of sparks six feet in the air. Every other customers comment was, “I’m going to Washington for the GOOD stuff”. I had enough of that so I moved to Washington to sell “The GOOD stuff”!

Our Fireworks are imported directly from China and I have selected the most impressive items available in each category. Mortars, Roman Candles, Repeaters, Fountains, Novelties and more. Buying direct and cutting out the middle man allows us to have the lowest prices in Washington.

Mean Gene is super nice! I was looking for fireworks for a 60th birthday social distancing party. Everything was closed, due to Covid19, but Gene took my call. He generously offered the sparklers and party poppers I wanted and did not charge me. I was so surprised, and grateful! Gene said he wanted to make this time of isolation better for others! Mean Gene Fireworks gets my business and a 5 star sparkling review! Thank you!

This is my favorite place to go shopping for fireworks I've been going here for a few years now, I love there deal where if you spend 100 dollars you get an additional I believe 30 or 40 dollars extra and even if you dont plan on spending alot of money there prices are unbeatable they will be open for New Years 2020 guys so get them while you can

Excellent prices, especially on the small to mid-sized cakes. I stopped in looking for a different place, but they convinced me to look around first, and I'm glad I did. I also appreciated several freebies thrown in with my order. My whole family loved the display I was able to create, and not a single item was a disappointment. I was especially blown away (no pun intended) at the performance of the tiny, $4 cakes. Surprising amount of show in a small, inexpensive package!

am from oregon and they charged me a sales tax which they are not supposed to do the young manager said every one pays sales tax and they had a small selection i strongly recommend going to black jacks fire works stand if you are from oregon they will check your license and waive the sales tax from washington and they have a bigger selection and they are also willing to negotiate prices on cases of fire works

Seriously THE nicest people at Mean Gene Fireworks. I needed some Wedding sparklers in a pinch and they really hooked me up! I would not go anywhere else for fireworks accept for these guys! Definitely check them out!

Will only buy fireworks from Mean Gene! He and his family are the sweetest and really go out of their way to provide the best customer service! Back in October I was looking all over for sparklers and didn't realize that you couldn't get them that time of year. After looking all over Oregon I was super lucky Mean Gene himself picked up the phone! The next day he set out a large assortment of sparklers for me and saved the day. I'll be shopping with them this year for 4th of July and telling all my friends to go to Mean Gene's :)

Mean Gene is perhaps the nicest guy I have ever encountered. My mom passed away far too early this fall, and we had an idea to have sparklers at her service to symbolize her life, which burned bright and was over far too fast.After I explained my idea to Gene he insisted that I come and meet him since I had the time to do so. He had a crazy array of options for us and refused to allow me to pay for them given the circumstances, he also insisted we take the bunch that he brought which was a ton and was especially great as sooo many more people came to the memorial than even we could have imagined.I have been there since and he has a great selection at terrific prices. I cannot recommend looking up mean Gene enough, the nicest fireman and fireworks enthusiast that I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.Seriously recommended!

Gene was so great and so friendly!! Gene personally helped me out with super deal on sparklers for my wedding when I was so desperate in finding some!! Now my wedding is complete thanks to Gene!
